Women Warriors Fire Dance

So, I ended up going to the girl power fire dance thing. It was worth the effort. The canyon was beautiful and topped with a clear sky full of stars, the trees were fully leafed out, and the river nearby our chosen fire pit flowed heavily with cold winter runoff. The atmosphere was perfect for letting go of stress and feeling free.

We all had something to let go of. All of the women there had faced mountains that were impossible to climb. Some had been abused by their husbands, some were patching together broken hearts after freshly failed marriages, some were dealing with serious injuries that had changed their whole lives, and others, like me, had been permanently altered by death.

We painted our faces with warrior designs, said a beautifully written prayer to the heavens about loving ourselves for all our beautifully, divinely-given female traits. We each took turns to burn what we wanted to let go of, some had specific items, others had written messages on paper and burned those. Everyone was supportive, loving, and willing to participate. It was a safe space, even though I only knew one of them. We all shared something together that night that I know we’ll always remember.

After the hard part was done, we danced around the flickering fire under the starlit canyon sky eventually ending up in our underwear and celebrating our own unique feminine beauty inside and out. Laughter, tears, and hugs were in abundance.

Nature is the best place for healing, the white light energy that comes from plants and the earth is the best kind of energy. It is something we long for when stuck in cities, and we don’t even realize it. Just as God is supposedly in the heavens, Mother Earth is all around us in nature, and to surround ourselves with her, is the most healing thing we can do when life becomes too much.

The night was a perfect success, and I’m so glad I was able to share it with other women who needed to heal as well.
